Introduction

The Honkai Nexus Anima Wiki has some specific rulesets regarding the usage and romanization of Korean text in articles, which may be different from other wikis, communities, or official standardization methods. Please read this page carefully before adding any sort of Korean text or romanization.

Template

The template {{Lang}} must be used when adding Korean text and romanization (and can also support other languages like Chinese and Japanese). The shorthand template is {{ko}}.

Usage

The usage of Korean on the Honkai Nexus Anima Wiki is much more limited than Chinese, or even Japanese. Korean can be used in the following applications:

  • The Korean part of Other Language sections
  • The names of Korean voice actors
  • Trivia sections or Lore pages for explaining etymology
  • Korean Voice-Over pages of characters

Korean should not be used in the following applications:

  • Names of characters, factions, locations, etc.
  • Essentially everywhere else other than extreme or edge exceptions

Capitalization

  • The romanization should follow the capitalization of the corresponding English text, whether it is in title case or sentence case.

Romanization

Korean romanizations can be automatically generated using the template {{ko-rm}}. However, this template is unable to capture occasional exceptions and in such cases, manual romanizations should be provided instead.

Ultimately, all Korean text should be romanized according to the following rules.

The romanization system we use is Revised Romanization of Korean, with the following modifications and/or enforcements of existing rules:

  • Sound changes and assimilation are observed in given names, but unassimilated romanizations can be provided in a hover note. For example: 종려 JongnyeoJongnyeo.
    • This may be generated automatically by adding // on either side of the given name. For example, {{ko-rm|//종려//}} yields: Jongnyeo.
  • (hieut) in the final position before (ieung) in initial position should be romanized as h instead of nothing.
  • Ambiguous syllabic boundaries should be marked with an apostrophe ('), whereas semantic boundaries should be marked with a hyphen-minus (-)

The following lists the rules for transcription for each Korean Hangul jamo (자모자모, letter).

Vowel Letters

Hangul
Romanization a ae ya yae eo e yeo ye o wa wae oe yo u wo we wi yu eu ui i

Consonant Letters

Hangul
Romanization Initial g kk n d tt r m b pp s ss j jj ch k t p h
Final k k t l p t t ng t t t

Special Provisions

The Revised Romanization transcribes certain phonetic changes that occur with combinations of the ending consonant of a character and the initial consonant of the next like HangukHangugeo. These significant changes occur (highlighted in yellow):

following
initial
previous
ending
g n d r m b s j ch k t p h
k g kg ngn kd ngn ngm kb ks kj kch k'k kt kp kh, k
n n n'g nn nd ll, nn nm nb ns nj nch nk nt np nh
t d[* 1] tg nn td nn nm tb ts tj tch tk t't tp th, t[* 2]
l r lg ll ld ll lm lb ls lj lch lk lt lp lh
m m mg mn md mn mm mb ms mj mch mk mt mp mh
p b pg mn pd mn mm pb ps pj pch pk pt p'p ph, p
t s tg nn td nn nm tb ts tj tch tk t't tp th, t[* 2]
ng ng' ngg ngn ngd ngn ngm ngb ngs ngj ngch ngk ngt ngp ngh
t j tg nn td nn nm tb ts tj tch tk t't tp th, t[* 2]
t ch tg nn td nn nm tb ts tj tch tk t't tp th, t[* 2]
k k kg ngn kd ngn ngm kb ks kj kch k'k kt kp kh
t t[* 3] tg nn td nn nm tb ts tj tch tk t't tp th, t[* 2]
p p pg mn pd mn mm pb ps pj pch pk pt p'p ph
t h k nn t nn nm p s ch tch tk t't tp t

Notes

  1. If the following jamo is i and palatalization occurs, romanize as j.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 If the following jamo is hi and palatalization occurs, romanize as ch.
  3. If the following jamo is i and palatalization occurs, romanize as ch.

Yethangul

Generally, there should be virtually no reason to come across yethangul (Korean: 옛한글 yethangeul) when editing Genshin Impact Wiki or playing Genshin Impact. However, if a case where yethangul needs to be used arises, romanize all yethangul directly how they are orthographically spelled without any sound changes and special provisions or transcription positional differences.

Formatting

Punctuation

  • Convert punctuation in the romanization as follows:

『』 ""

Notes

  1. This is a hyphen-minus (the symbol widely available on most keyboards). A space should be placed on either side of the hyphen.
