Sundering
The Sundering is an event that occurred in the world of Honkai: Nexus Anima.
Description
The Sundering is an unknown event, implied to have changed the world. Before the Sundering, nothing truly existed in isolation or independently from outside influence. The Nexus threads connected everything together.[1] During this time, known as the Old World, the Aspects were ruled by Sovereigns.[2]
After the Sundering, the Nexus was broken and stable connections between things were lost. The shattered remnants of the Nexus was scattered across the New World and the pieces were manifested as creatures of Aspect energy, the Nexus Anima. Nexus Battles became the recognized method of resolving disputes across many Planes.[1]
The Sundering severed the connections between the Aspects, causing the world to collapse and break apart into pieces. The shattered fragments of Aspects formed 81 independent universes called "Planes." The Sovereign's had their Aspects divided, and the New World is now ruled by 81 Novarchs, each ruling one of the 81 Planes and their corresponding Aspects.[2]
