The exact details of the Sundering are unknown, but it is implied to have had a significant impact on the state of the world. After the Sundering, the Nexus was broken and stable connections between things were lost, severing the paired Aspects. The remaining fragments formed 81 independent universes, called [[Plane]]s, now scattered across the [[New World]] and ruled over by [[Novarch]]s.<ref name="aspects" /> The pieces also manifested as creatures of Aspect energy, referred to as [[Anima|Nexus Anima]].
