This page gives guidance on how images should be named.

File Types

PNG is preferred.

• Except for Character Profile Cards, it is better to convert JPG images to PNG to keep file extensions consistent. Take note that JPG is a lossy format, where as PNG is lossless. It is better to seek out a file that does not have lost detail than to use a file with detail lost.

Naming Conventions

Most images should be prefixed with a keyword (and space) that describes what type of image it is. Below is the current list of prefixes with examples.

File names must be descriptive. For example, File:19700101T000000Z.png is not a descriptive image name, but File:Puddlipup Anima Portrait.png is.
